Grange Hall Floods again, January 2009

Grange Hall Flooded 2009 snd small file copy Skamokawa Grange Hall was flooded January 7, 2009, at about 6pm.  This picture was taken the following morning.  Thanks to the dilligent efforts of Bill and Kay Chamberlain, and members of the Skamokawa Fire Department, the pianos and major pieces of furniture were moved up onto the stage and saved from the flood water.  Grange members are waiting until the water recedes enough to enter the building before cleaning and salvaging what can be recovered.

Welcome Back Grange Hall!

Soon, very soon, there will once again be.......

Bathrooms in the Grange Hall.

As the time ticks down to the Dollars for Scholars Salmon Derby and Car Show, John Luthi, Frank Webb and Bill Chamberlain have been busy in (and under) the hall, installing DWV and supply lines.

Post flood, regular meetings are once again being held in the hall. Thank you to the Skamokawa Methodist Church for providing meeting space in the interim.

If you're heading north on I-5 the weekend of June 9-10, stop by for a cup of coffee and a cookie or two, courtesy of Skamokawa Grange, at the Toutle River Rest stop, first rest stop north of Longview/Kelso.

We hope to see you all at the Car Show and Salmon Derby, and at the I-5 Rest stop!

Skamokawa Grange meetings are held 2nd and 4th Mondays at 7:30pm. Everyone is welcome and we have great snacks!

Our Hall, as it is...

Grangehallfront_2 On a sunny day in March, 2006.  The hall has sat unused, since late 1996.  Roof is straight, and the siding is mostly good.  The ell to the left suffers from water infiltration, in the area where it is joined to the main building and along some of the sill plates.

Grangehallporch_2 Replacing the porch posts will be one of our first jobs.  Grangeporchpost_1                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Although there has been some sagging, the building rests on 2x12 joists in really good shape.  Grangecrawlspace_1

We will be holding another work party soon.  Come along to a meeting.  They are held 2nd and 4th Mondays at 7:30pm, currently at the Methodist Church in Skamokawa.  Meet some old-hand Grangers and some really new ones, and share some really good treats!

Hall Gems

The hall's old stage curtain is in great condition, It displays the names and phone numbers of local businesses from decades ago.  Many names are familiar  in the community today.  The mountain scene is a detail from the center of the curtain.
